We don’t want to tempt fate, but it feels like we’ve spent most of this summer looking at blue skies, brown lawns and weather apps that refuse to show a even the littlest rain cloud.
It’s been dry. Very dry.
Great news if you’ve had a barbecue planned. Less impressive if you’re responsible for keeping the garden alive.
At 23 Doors, though, all this sunshine has reminded us just how much difference the right windows and doors can make to a home.
When the weather behaves itself, our aluminium bifold and sliding doors really come into their own. Open them up and suddenly the kitchen, dining room or living space doesn’t stop at the back wall of the house. The garden becomes part of it.
Breakfast outside? Why not.
Working from home with the doors wide open? Considerably better than staring at the same four walls.
A cold drink on the patio at 6pm? We’ll take that too.
And because modern aluminium frames are incredibly slim, you get plenty of glass and natural light even when everything is closed.
Built for British weather. Even when it isn’t very British.
Of course, we’re under no illusion that this weather will last forever.
This is the UK. At some point somebody will plan a barbecue for Saturday and normal service will immediately resume.
That’s where aluminium windows and doors earn their keep all year round.
Aluminium is strong, durable and extremely low maintenance. It won’t swell, warp or need regularly repainting, and modern glazing and thermal technology means today’s aluminium systems offer excellent energy efficiency too.
So while we’re currently talking about throwing the doors open and making the most of the sunshine, give it a few months and we’ll probably be talking about keeping the warmth inside instead.

Make the most of the view
One thing this unusually dry summer has definitely shown us is how much we value the connection between our homes and gardens.
Large aluminium bifolds, sliding doors and picture windows let you make that connection a feature of the property rather than simply having a door that gets you from A to B.
More glass. Slimmer frames. More natural light. And, when the sun decides to make an appearance, the ability to open up the house and properly enjoy it.
So, while the grass might currently be looking a little less Wimbledon and a little more Mediterranean, we’re making the most of it.
Because we all know what happens next.
Someone mentions a hosepipe ban…
